Zambia Energy Permanent Secretary Inspects Tazama Pipeline to Reinforce National Fuel Security

Zambia’s newly appointed Permanent Secretary for Energy, Professor Ephrahim Munshifwa, has undertaken a familiarisation tour of the Tazama Pipeline to gain firsthand insight into the country’s critical petroleum infrastructure and to reinforce the strategic importance of fuel security.

Professor Munshifwa began his visit with a courtesy call at the Provincial Office, where he met with Provincial Permanent Secretary Lawrence Mwanza. He then proceeded to inspect the Tazama storage tanks and the Ndola Fuel Terminal (NFT).

During engagements with Tazama management, led by Managing Director Rodney Kalota, Professor Munshifwa emphasised the need for operational excellence, efficiency, and diligence to ensure the continuous and reliable supply of petroleum products across Zambia.

In response, Kalota reaffirmed Tazama’s commitment to safeguarding the country’s energy sector and maintaining uninterrupted fuel transportation and distribution nationwide.

Professor Munshifwa commended the Tazama team for their dedication and professionalism, noting the pipeline’s critical role in supporting Zambia’s economic development and energy security.

As part of the ongoing tour, the Permanent Secretary is scheduled to visit the Kalonje Fuel Booster Pump Stations in Chinsali and Mpika districts, followed by an inspection of Indeni, to gain deeper insight into Zambia’s petroleum supply and distribution network.
